Running Miner on Windows with Admin Privileges

Hi all,

This might come as a stupid question to more seasoned members of this forum, but here I am regardless. I run a Geforce RTX 3070 and an AMD R9 390 on Windows using Nanominer and Nanopool. Whenever I start my miner, it says something along the lines of, “Tip: you will get a higher hashrate if you run the program with Administrator privileges.” I know running any program with Admin privileges leaves the entire system prone to malware and hacking. Why is running the miner with Admin privileges so beneficial to the miner? How can I run the miner with Admin privileges and get the higher hashrate without leaving myself open to risks?

What do you think?

  1. I wouldnt worry too much about it, its all about resource allocation If I understand it correctly. If you manually change the process priority to high in task manager, that might do the trick?
