Probably a dumb question: Where do you all get your GPUs from?

So, I’ve been mining ETH for a little while (maybe a month now) on my gaming PC when I’m not using it.

I have a single 2080 ti. And I got to thinking: “What if I got a legit GPU mining rig?”

So, that took me on about a 2 day deep dive into specs, optimization and the general ‘how to’ guides on building a rig. I am pretty handy, and I have the cash to buy what I want, but the biggest issue is:

How do I find GPUs other than just ‘keep trying the online store every day’?

Ideally, I’d grab up a 19-slot motherboard, slap together 19 RTX 3060s and just let that heat up my house all winter (I live up north, so it gets real cold, real quick).

If there’s some kind of trick I’m missing besides “Go hang out at microcenter every day”, then please let me know.

I’ve also looked into purchasing a bitmain Antminer S19Pro when it launches, but i don’t know if it’s really going to be worth it. Looks like it, but I don’t understand enough about mining yet.

Thanks for your time.

  1. remember that 3060 and other 30xx (except 3090) are equipped with LHR that limit ETH mining in almost half… Old one 3060 you can bypass with dev drivers but you need a lot of pcie lines as it needs minimum 8x, new 3060 have new LHR and you will not able to bypass it smae 3070ti, 3080ti and new revisions of 3070, 3080, 3060ti… only 3090 are fee from LHR…

As for antminer read about Pos ETH2.0 in next year as ethereum will be not possible tomine with GPU or antminer (only same algos and new coins).

  2. Gotta get lucky on Newegg shuffle, Best Buy or microcenter. Amazon is a joke unless you have a bot. It’s not worth paying scalper prices at this point in time with ETH 2.0 around the corner and the market being volatile right now, don’t cave in.
