Investing in ether is now much safer than in NFT – Head of L’Atelier BNP Paribas

L’Atelier BNP Paribas CEO John Egan believes that investing in ether is “much safer” than investing in non-fungible tokens (NFT). This is because Ethereum provides the infrastructure for NFT, he explained.

“Ethereum is clearly a big winner when it comes to NFTs. So starting with Ethereum and its associated infrastructure is probably a significantly safer investment at this stage, ”he told BNN Bloomberg.

He compared the acquisition of NFT to a casino. “You know you’ll spend money, but maybe you’re doing it for fun. If you win, you’re in luck, ”he added.

L’Atelier specializes in identifying trends in the virtual space. According to Egan, NFT is “a largely evolving asset class” with a heightened level of risk. However, over the next decade, Egan expects them to become “the fundamental level of economic infrastructure within the virtual economy.”

The manager compares the current interest in NFTs with the hype around ICOs in 2017. “They are very similar. I think the vast majority of NFT offerings are now in the hype cycle and have no real value. This does not mean that NFTs are devoid of value. I think NFTs have outstanding value as a long-term infrastructure bet, ”he added.
