Ethereum Miners Created Gaming Laptop Deficit Due to Nvidia Restrictions

Ethereum miners create a shortage of gaming laptops due to Nvidia restrictions

Miners from China, South Korea and Taiwan have started to massively buy gaming laptops based on GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs following Nvidia’s announced plans to limit the hashrate of desktop GPUs. Hardware Times writes about it.

Mobile nowi version of the RTX 3060 graphics card on eBay costs about $ 1000 – almost the same as the full version. The card based on the Ampere architecture has low power consumption, while its hash rate is capable of reaching 48.99 MH / s, which is comparable to the RTX 2080 Super.

Recall that at the end of February, Nvidia announced its intention to halve the hashrate of new desktop video cards GeForce RTX 3060. Mobile GPU options were not affected by this decision.

Reducing the efficiency of GPUs for mining, the company claims, is a way to combat hardware shortages among gamers.

Especially for professional miners, Nvidia has announced a line of Cryptocurrency Mining Processor chips.

Earlier, Chinese miners built a farm of laptops based on GeForce RTX 30 video cards, capable of bringing in $ 77,000 in Ethereum per year.
