1660 Super & 2060 don’t work with motherboard – BUT 1060 does?!

Hey everyone,

I’m in the process of setting up my first ever rig and have encountered a very strange issue which I can’t manage to solve. Here is the set up:

– 2010 (year) H57M01 Acer Aspire M5811 motherboard (ripped out of old pc).

– HIVE OS on flash drive

– Corsair 600w power supply (I’ve checked this runs properly – it does)

– 2 x 2gb ddr3 ram

– pcie risers x 2

– GTX 1060 6gb GPU plugged into pcie x1 slot, directly powered through its own ports, not the attached riser. Works fine.

– GTX 1660 super (fully works in another pc) plugged into pcie x16 slot via risers. Powered directly with 8 pin, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. No fans, nothing. Not detected.

The 1060 mines perfectly fine on HIVEOS, no issues at all.

The 1660 super (as well as a 2060 I tried) does not show up at all, fans don’t turn on at all and I can’t figure out why.

I have swapped out risers and that doesn’t solve the issue. I’ve swapped ports for the gpus, and the 1060 works still but no 1660 super.

If anyone could shed some light on this I would be forever grateful. My only though is that the motherboard isn’t compatible, but is that even a thing?!
